Good News J&K Govt Notifies Timelines for Filling Vacancies The Jammu and Kashmir government has notified timelines for referral of vacancies to recruiting agencies to ensure timely filling up of posts.
As per a circular issued by the General Administration Department, all administrative departments have been directed to adhere to the timelines for identifying vacancies and referring them to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB)
The departments will have to identify vacancies two months prior to the January 15 deadline, which is November 15 of the preceding year. The proposals will have to be sent for finance concurrence by December 15.
Thereafter, the vacancies will have to be referred to the recruiting agencies by January 15 every year. The departments will also have to submit an annual status report on filling of vacancies by January 31.
The administrative departments have been asked to designate a nodal officer, not below the rank of Special/Additional Secretary, to ensure timely completion of the recruitment process as per rules.
The move is aimed at addressing delays in referral of vacancies, which has been a major reason behind backlog of unfilled posts in various government departments. Timelines for Filling Vacancies in Jammu and Kashmir
The process of identification of vacancies to be referred under direct recruitment quota should be completed two months prior to January 15 of every calendar year—15th of November of preceding calendar year, the Government said, adding the referral of proposal for concurrence of the Finance Department in case of non-gazette/class IV (MTS) vacancies should be completed one month prior to January 15 of every calendar year—15th of December of the preceding calendar year.
“Referral of vacancies to JKPSC and JKSSB should be completed by 15th January of every calendar year. Moreover, by January 31, the departments are required to submit annual status report to the General Administration Department in terms of Rule 5 of SRO 166 of 2005”, read the instructions.
The annual status report will in particular indicate the date of reference as well as the time taken for making selection/recommendation. The GAD has directed all the Administrative Departments to nominate a Nodal Officer not below the rank of Special/Additional Secretary, who shall be responsible for completion of procedures within the notified timelines as required in terms of Rule 4 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (reference of vacancies and holding of meetings of Departmental Promotion Committees), Rules, 2005.
